About Meiert J. Grootes

Meiert J. Grootes (*2 January 1960) is a Swiss-Dutch entrepreneur. He comes from a family of chocolate manufacturers, representing its seventh generation in the food business. Grootes completed his studies at the University of Wageningen, Netherlands in 1986, graduating as an engineer of process technology (MSc.). He proceeded to further studies in business at Oekreal/GSBA, Zurich, and at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Lausanne. He is a seasoned company builder having been on the management team of various start-up companies.

In 1992, he incorporated his own company Panadoro Group together with two partners. Grootes is experienced in working at senior levels in a variety of international food companies. Since 1993, Grootes has been CEO of the VERIPAN AG, headquartered in Matzingen, Switzerland, a leading food design company (“think tank”) for the national and international food industry. Since January 2015 Grootes is also Managing Director of the Swiss Agro Food Innovation Park, Frauenfeld. Currently he is preparing the incorporation of an Agro Food Venture Capital Fund with European and Asian corporate investors.

Grootes has lived in different European countries and from 2010 till 2013 in Singapore. He is married, father of three adult children and fluent in six languages. In his leisure time, he is interested in international economics, intercultural relations, skiing, golf, and cooking pancakes in all international varieties.
